DOUGLAS BRIAN HAY — During his 40 year career in business and government, Brian Hay has held senior positions in the Ontario government, Guaranty Trust, Imperial Oil, Texaco Canada, International Corona Mines, Ontario Power Authority, National Public Relations, NextEra Energy Resources, as well as operating his own consulting business for 14 years.
Hay specialized in training top business, government and military officers and executives on how to manage crisis situations and deal with media, government, community, legal interviews and presentations.
As part of his working career and personal interest, Brian worked in economic development with numerous First Nations and Métis communities across Canada for more than a decade. Brian also served in the Canadian Army Reserve for 12 years, Civil/Military Affairs and Intelligence, retiring with the rank of Major.
During his career he has served on the boards of many not-for-profit organizations including the Edmonton Symphony; the Alberta Foundation for Economic Education; Canada’s Society, Environment, and Energy Education Foundation; Outward Bound Canada; The Fortune Society of Canada (a rehabilitation NGO); the Canadian Foundation for Economic Education; SAFEGUARD: Canadians for Responsible Gun Ownership; and last but most relevant, for the past 30 years with the Mackenzie Institute for the Study of Terror, Propaganda and Social Instability. He is currently the President of the Institute.
Brian has an Honours B.A. in Philosophy and Political Science (MCL) and an M.A. in Political Science, in addition to several certifications in finance and organizational development.
Hay was awarded ‘The Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteering’ in Canada in the Spring of 2017.
